Vista Hotel on Lake Tarpon

This is my personal review of the Vista Hotel on Lake Tarpon.

This was a one night getaway for Steve and I.

3 hours from our home on the East coast of Florida, the Vista Hotel on Lake Tarpon was a great find!

We travel 3-4 times a year all over the continental US and our budget likes to pay under or around $100/night for a room, including tax. Vista Hotel on Lake Tarpon fit that bill.

This was a romantic getaway and by romantic I mean no friends and no kids!

Easy to get to, the portico and lobby were welcoming.

We were booked in a “roof-top view” room, I booked the lowest price king room on Expedia, and when we checked in were offered a canal and lake view room instead, room 428 to be exact.

Such a good upgrade.

My suggestion is to be on a high floor with a canal view; rooms 420-428 or 320-328 as they seem to have the best canal and lake views.

We entered our room into a small foyer that housed a closet, coffee bar and the bathroom. The foyer opened up into a rather spacious bedroom.

We had a king size bed, the room had a door connecting to the adjacent room, a nice benefit for larger families or groups.

The bathroom was clean and the separate coffee station and foyer area were nice touches.

The balcony.

Each room has a balcony. This was a major selling point for me and it did not disappoint.

The balcony was large and offered plenty of privacy; however, as with most balconies we could hear others talking, mostly laughing and that’s not a bad thing to hear and of course the occasional smell of smoke from smokers nearby.

Overall the balcony rocked! A great place for a night cap or a cup of coffee in the morning while watching the sun rise. My only complaint was that we were only staying one night.

Pros:

Large room

Balcony

Movie theatre across the street

Breakfast included

Pool

Water view

Close to Tarpon Springs attractions

Cons:

Could hear others on balcony

Breakfast food mediocre

I would recommend this hotel to friends and will stay here again the future.

It would make a great romantic getaway, girls-weekend or family vacation spot. Close to Tarpon Springs sponge docks, beaches and attractions I can’t think of a better place to stay than the Vista Hotel on Lake Tarpon.

If you decide to visit this amazing slice of Florida let me know, I’d love to hear about your stay.
