3 Questions for Pre-Trip Packing

In 2 weeks, my husband, 3-year-old daughter and I will leave for a 9-day mission trip to Honduras.

When it comes to packing I believe starting early is key.

Starting early helps to spread the cost out over a few weeks…

and…

helps lessen any stress.

HERE ARE 3 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF AS YOU PREP FOR A MISSION TRIP or any trip really.

#1: WHAT ARE MY NEEDS? Asses your needs…and write them down

–> clothing, entertainment, food,

–> travel accessories- like ear buds, passport and passport holder, neck pillow for flight, sleep mask etc.

#2: Bags – WHAT BAGS WILL I BE TAKING?

Aubry's backpack, my passport purse, stickers and crayon carrier.

–> Do you each get a carry-on and/or a checked bag?

–> It’s nice for everyone to have their own backpack

–> since international travel gets you 1 FREE check bag,I use that bag to check peanut butter, tooth brushes, children’s books in Spanish, craft supplies,  and anything the missionaries may need as well as my bedding and pillow

#3: WHAT SUPPLIES WILL I NEED? Purchase Supplies…

mission trip

–> Be on the lookout for items you may not usually have on hand like hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, do you have a flash light? Get a packing list from mission you are staying with.

–> ask friends and keep an eye out for good deals on toothbrushes or go get some at the dollar store, soccer balls and bubbles are also fun.

any trip

–> purchase and gather items for travel entertainment: stickers, coloring, iPad etc

–> buy snacks, I like trail mixes, nuts and seeds, applesauce packs

gather supplies in one of the bags you'll be taking

I claim a small section of our bedroom for the gathered supplies.

That’s it!

Start up to 4 weeks before leave date or a more modest 2 weeks prior.
